What to consider when buying Jewellery for loved ones at Christmas.
Jewellery is regularly cited as one of the most desired Christmas presents to receive by women, whether from their partners, family or friends. Yet, it can be a minefield to choose that correct piece.
There are a few things that everyone should consider when buying;
1. Set yourself a budget and stick to it as jewellery can come in various guises, from cheap and cheerful plastic at 99p to good quality silver, gold and semi-precious stones, such as turquoise, up to precious stones such as diamonds at £1000’s.
2.Consider the person’s concerned style. Note what type of clothing she would wear. Does she follow fashion very closely? Or does she like her classic items? Try to follow this with your selection of jewellery. For those who follow fashion, you can experiment with bold and colourful jewellery, buying colours from the fashion season. Otherwise for those classic women, semi-precious stones, such as onyx,rose quartz or indeed freshwater pearls can be a good investment.

3. If you aren’t knowlegdeable about jewellery but want a good quality item that will last, I suggest you follow the following:
Be wary of pure base metal items, at expensive prices, as these pieces do not last and discolour when in contact with body lotion/perfumes etc.
If choosing semi-precious stones follow the same principle of precious stones. All stones are graded and unfortunately some jewellery can be made from poor grades but yet are high priced. Look for alot of inclusions, ie. clouds within the stones. The more inclusions the poorer the stone. This is acceptable if the price reflects this.
4. Earrings are very a very popular gift but again you need to consider the style of earrings. Alot of women like very small earrings whilst others love large dangly earrings. Take note of what she wears, as in the case of earrings, due to health legislation earrings cannot be refunded. If buying large dangly earrings, consider the weight as it is not comfortable or attractive to wear very heavy earrings.

5.Lastly ask for gift wrapping, as alot of jewellers will provide gift boxes free of charge.
