Jean Muir. The End of an Era.
On Friday 20th April 2007 the Jean Muir brand saw it’s last day of business. Jean Muir is regarded as one of the most influential designers that Britain has produced.
Her signature designs were indeed exceptionally technically innovative in the 1960’s and 1970’s. Her name will always be synomous with navy and black jersey dresses of an understated chic. Such a look has been widely admired by current fashion designers, such as Giorgio Armani.
As well as such understated chic she will also be remembered for designing Joanna Lumley’s catsuit for the Avengers! Infact Joanna Lumley was Jean Muir’s house model.
Her brand will continue to be in great demand in the vintage clothing phenomenon with celebrities such as Sienna Miller, favouring her 1970’s dresses.
